This year’s festival club is based to the rear of the ballroom of Óstán Loch Altan.
On Friday night, entertainment will be provided by local favourites The Beekeepers, who will be performing a set of acoustic blues.
On Saturday night we kick off with a visit from Féile Women Singers Group, a twenty-five strong group of women from Belfast, or a group of twenty-five strong women from Belfast, who sing songs of resistance, songs of the working class, and above all, songs for and by women. Formed in 2006, they have performed with Eddie Reader and Mary Black as well as at a host of venues and festivals. Their singing style is a mixture of African, gospel, soul, pop, trad, folk and much more. Further information on the group is available from Anna Newell, annanewell@yahoo.com, or 004479 949287405
The main act on Saturday is the Henry Girls and band. The core of the group consists of the McLaughlin sisters, Karen, Laura and Joleen from Inishowen in County Donegal, who have just released their second album ‘Morning Rush’. With influences as diverse as Tom Waits, Flook and the Dixie Chicks their mixture of trad, blues and jazz will sit perfectly with the ambience of the festival weekend. www.thehenrygirls.com
