Polish Season & Events
This year Guth Gafa are hosting a special season of Polish films and side-bar events. On Saturday 17th, we will be screening 3 PolishNothing to be Scared of films and a Swedish film by a Polish director. The Polish films are Corpus Christi, directed by Adam Sikora, a view on the life of a Polish community in Silesia struggling to make a living, Nothing to be Scared Of, directed by Malgorzata Szumowska, a humorous look at the rituals, customs and thoughCorpus Christits on life and death of people in a small Polish village in the Mazuria region, and The Clinic, directed by Tomasz Wolski, following a wonderful mix of characters in a geriatric ward in a Krakow hospital. The Swedish film is Paradise, by Polish director Jerzy Sladkowski, a romantic docu-comedy about a couple married for 60 years who decide to wallpaper their cottage together. According to a Northern Swedish proverb, ‘A marriage that survives wallpapering can survive anything’.

As part of the season, there will be a special Polish food and drink reception with the directors of some of the Polish films in attendance, and some Polish music.
